  • Why some people on this site feel the need to sugar coat a glorified oligarchy like China?

What do you mean by some people?

Reproachment with China -and Russia- had been a Western strategic choice for decades.

Hell the whole globalism trend was built around the theory that offering a slice of the economic pie to everyone and interconecting everything would result in general rise of the way of living and even if not help the establisment of decomracy it would prevent even the most dictatorial of regimes from rocking the boat too much for fear of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Ofc that was wrong as evidenced by Russia turning in to an ever worse kleptocratic hellhole than its Soviet ancestor and ruled by an idiot with delusions of grandeur.

China chose to blow up its own gravy train by using its tech giants to plant ALOT of spyware on its greatest clients and consumers.

But in order for said globalism to be built Russian and Chinese abuses had to be papered over, swept under the rag and largely ignored.

Ofc now that globalism is breathing its last we conveniently remembered just what exactly is Russian and China and all those other dictatorships we made nice with but it will take some doing for inertia to go away

Le Shrug. It just happens that China is the only non-joke country outside Japan, North America and Europe. China matters, unlike the other places in the area (not politically correct, but...).
So, I've been wondering, is there any specific relevance to the name Vikramaditya? A national hero I'm not familiar with or something? I'll admit I don't know much about India.

A legendary King, who even got the title of Chakravartin, ie the Universal Ruler. He invented the Hindu Calendar, was the hero of several of our most famous folktales, and was also alleged to have resisted the foreign Sakka hordes.

Also, our flagship is the INS Vikramaditya. An aircraft carrier, and one of our proudest assets.

Don't worry. India is one of the least known cultures in the world. Our own fault, perhaps, but it is what it is. Nobody can reasonably take offence if you don't know of our culture.

Ah, I see. I think that much of the reason that India is obscure in the west comes down to both racism, and the British messing up the country to keep you from contesting their rule. That's just me speculating, though.

    Thank you for your time.
How close to the truth is this?

As long as he convinces everyone that INC would have handled it even worse, he can win. As long as we maintain the unthinking feeling of "don't care. You're going anyway", he won't.

Well, I know you guys are not religious (and good for you), but we'll appreciate any prayers. Since more material help is impossible, it's the best we can get.
