US Politics American 2020 Presidential Primary

@Aaron Fox Using the funny rating to mock is seen as uncouth by some.
I'm laughing at your delusion, not you in particular. If I am laughing at you, I'm laughing in sorrow because you deluded yourself that hard.

Ah so you're being a dick then.

I'm 'deluded' insofar as I have this thing called optimism. You should try it as opposed to shitposting your latest trump theory in the mueller thread.

If I disagree with someone, but am content with the exchange insofar as the effort they took out of their day to put into making me feel temporarily important (or at least important enough to lead to said effort put in indicative therein), I'll at least send them a hug.

But yeah, using the funny rating at that point you're just being a massive dick at best...

Sanders does not have the policies to build up the broad appeal he needs and his arrogance and false socialist rhetoric can really grind the gears of less ignorant folks. One of the reasons why Pete Buttigieg is one of my top choices is simply because he does not seem to be blinded by ideology and youthful and educated enough to be openminded.

Truth be told I'm ambivalent on buttigieg at the moment, though I think he's a palatable alternative to biden.

Anything other than "let Wall Street do whatever they want!" is "blinded by ideology?" Everything is ideologically motivated, including "Evidence Based Policy" and "the Numbers say Hashut The Free Market is great and good!" and he isn't exactly so progressive as you might think. Seriously, there's a reason Centrist Democrats aren't well liked, largely because they tend to think "fellow kids" tier imagery counts for "charisma"

Meanwhile, Joe Biden has left himself with a Pewdiepie moment

The Brookings Institute has a report on the 2018 voter turnout. Confirmation that demographics that typically vote Democrat have seen a strong increase in turnout. Unsurprising that the Democrats have support from minorities, but there is also increasing support from white college grads. Most American states have seen an increase in turnout for young Americans and nonwhites.

I don't know if the Democrats should bother trying to make itself appealing towards the non-college white population for 2020. It's best to go for demographics that have a future.

That is because the non-college population has a large percentage of what is termed 'Goldfish' voters... at least from what I've heard.

All they had to do was get off their asses and show up the last time around. All Trump had to do was engage in a fucking Civil War by turning the Mexican border into a Free Fire Zone for all "obvious" American citizens to engage in on their own intiative, and enact mass ethnic cleansing in the Southwest and West Coast in order to have a chance in hell of getting re-elected. One of those is not like the other.

If Drumph wins again, the Democrats will have nobody but themselves to blame for sheer fucking laziness and incompetence. Or maybe the Greens will run an even better campaign, good enough to steal Congressional seats and be the biggest strategic spoilers since Perot. Or maybe Democrats double down on calling Two Scoops Ultra Mega Hitler, on the basis of uh, fucking nothing.

It'll probably end up being Biden, but at this point I don't think anyone cares as long as its not Trump (besides his hardcore base of course)

Biden is worse than Trump in regards to the senility/Alzheimers issue. He refuses to acknowledge it and have someone there to help with it. Trump knows its coming and possibly here, going by his speech degradation since the early 90s.

Hell, hes worse than Bernie. Neither one of those ancient crypt keepers are going to do it. Well maybe Bernie. Or Bloomberg.

My gut says both Biden and Bernie will lose as they both piss off different parts of the party too much.

That shit is why we lost in 2016, both those guys give me the HRC vibes in that way, don't split the party or Dems lose.

(Personally a part of me wants Buttigieg just because a gay mayor dealing with Saudi shithole Arabia would be funny, as SA is just going to do something stupid and lose US as an ally)

He wouldn't be the first homosexual President, that would be Buchanan, who was a successful man who was also a "Confirmed Bachelor" in the 1800s. His only child was adopted.

The only Dems who have the memetic might to stand against God Emperor Trump is Bernie or Biden. Everyone else just isnt cool or entertaining.

538 did a piece on Steve Bullock yesterday, it should be noted that many of the problems laid out is pretty true. Montana is just weird politically, as party affiliation is almost non-existent in my home state...

Given the modern history of unknown Dems winning the primary and then the Presidency along with the fact that current/former governors have a tendency to become presidents in US politics... people should keep an eye on this guy. People forget that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were unknowns in their day and then simply went on to sweep their primaries and then the presidency...

Steve Bullock was one of my top choices for the presidency. Unfortunately, we have too many candidates in the Democratic primary and want him to run for the Senate.

Eh, the thing is that most US presidents had been governors beforehand, and thus seen as a sort of stepping stone before becoming president.
