Now some companies believe they could make a profit selling power generation, atmospheric processors, water purification and other similar systems to the worlds and polities surrounding the WCDC. Some even propose to set up factories for these things on other planets and polities. This would certainly improve the economic situation of these worlds, diplomatic contact with them, as well as improvethe WCDC economy.

Lothian League

[] We need new members:
There are 14 nations in the Three Systems that have declined to become members of the WCDC. The Three Systems can't effort to have some nations working on cross purposes and endanger the entire rest of the Walker Cluster. So there is a need to get them aboard and into the WCDC.

It is to be expected that at some point, the WCDC is going to have to conduct offensive operations. For such an eventuality, it is a requiorement to have a near real time communication between the expeditionary force and command. This in turn speaks for the design of Caldran Ansible communication buoys that can be placed along the line of advance towards the objective to supply a near real time com channel between various forces.

While the Raytan Jump Point Defense Stations do their job for system defense, there are ideas how to improve on the system, giving it FTL capabilities, so that they can be emplaced in systems without existing interplanetary infrastructure. Additionally, such a station could potentially act as a mobile Forward Operation Base for offensive operations. Together with the Caldran Ansible, it would also allow the operations command and staff to remain protected bhind the potential front lines. Potentially, such a design might be equipped with the new Jump Drive.

The initial Survey has discovered several previously habitated worlds where the initial settlers seem to have died out of left for greener pastures. Maybe it would be a good idea to take a closer look at these worlds and seek for anything the early habitants might have left behind. Maybe it would also be possible to resettle these worlds, if the ecology allows it.
Time: 3 turns, Chance of Success: 60%, Reward: Discovery of 1d10 valuable artifacts, 1d4 of these worlds can be resettled

Ok hope did this right. This site hates my phone and want to jump all over the place when try to type or copy paste. Ok reasoning is we need ftl comm system up fast. Industrial export to lothan league should help resolve fear and help them rebuild. New members because we can use comstar blunder to hopefully pull more people out of cold with special interest on getting Russians in. We get them we might get them all. Comm buoy and improved system defense because we probably will need it sooner than later. If we can set up layered defenses several jumps out we can gank problems before they can try to jump in our systems and make suicide runs. Abandoned systems is just clearing low hang fruit and human Intel is to start getting agents out because we also need this soon because we will be in a cold war with comstar soon.

If possible would like to do mech research before doing tank and mech research to see what we get but... What you guys think?

No, you can not, the IC reasoning being that tanks are a safe bet and its better to have one and that the Mech is the experimental thing. Therefore, its seen as a good idea to design those at the same time, allowing the designers to do the usual stuff for the tanks and have more time for the mech.

Also, I for one know the tank and mech designs, since I already designed them. :)


Now that I reread that one... There is the option to take mechs appart to see how they tick... With Project Chop Shop, a military action.

Ok for now on only doing voting at home on desktop so can actually see what am doing properly. Get back to you on that some time after 9 est.

As aside for discussion find myself wanting more and more to kill that pirate collection. That is a lot of assholes who need bullets in one place. Could gut piracy in local region for a good while. As a economic action to consider once we get cores working we might want to consider selling our own version of the invader or star Lord to nearby houses for hard cash or useful tech/deals. Probably not our advanced prototype drive because doubt they could handle it and the whole don't trade current gen tech to people you might fight thing.

Edit: chop shop yeah I want to run it first before we finalize our tanks and mechs. They have centuries of using this tech and at least for mechs would be useful study.

Really would rather get the hpg's running then worry about trade just yet. Better all round base boost. And abandoned worlds for useful stuff but guess looking at compact drives then seeing how that plays with standard and our prototype drives also useful.

But which is better bonuses for us? We trade with them we make them happy and get some cash and improve their defenses. We make our network backbone, because that is what it is, we get improved internal trade, improved defense, and improved research going forward. All so those comm buoys we want to build for early warning are probably going to be less effective or not work without network to link into. Probably rig ships to do it in meantime? Yes want to trade with Lothian but at end of day they are bumfuck nobodies we will need to uplift to do anything and we can do that later when we are secured and can afford to push outward.

I'm just having an idea, considering Project Hunter Killer and combat robots controlled by AGIs and ALIs...

ALIs are the AI equivalent to animals in some cases... Why not give them an animalistic look, feel and behavior, controlled by an AGI through some noisy communication channel. Fast movement, quick reaction, operating in groups, able to jump large distances and/or heights, claws that can rend armor plates...

Might be fun to see Elementals attacked by something along this line...

Well yes but by the sounds of it the Lothians may need those weapons right now not a few turns down the line. While we can afford to wait a single turn and then push for theHPG net.

Can eject when get in melee and yes not hpg but good luck telling anyone in the IS not a specialist in the field it ain't one. If you guys insist on helping the Lothians but frankly I would still prefer we make the ansible and kill the pirates ourselves or something.

Look at it this way.

We can either help the Lothians spank the pirates covertly with little cost or show up and blow them up in gratuitous space to space combat.

Right in front of a Galaxy that has precious few major warships, limited ways to procure more and absolutely no fighter equivalents.

I would prefer to stave off the feeding frenzy for a bit down the line, until we are good and ready.

Edit: I mean I would much prefer not to expose out space assets just yet
 
Thing is we can't really hide our ships. First line of defense and we do everything with them. Comstar knows about them, and will try to plan around them, and so does those we contact and they are our beatstick. We need that deterrent because since we dont use mechs everyone will assume we must be weak shit easy prey. Never underestimate how mech obsessed the locals are. Tanks are target practice and filler to them. Blowing up pirates openly would actually be a great pr and terror for those who hear.

Frankly there will be great interest in us in any case once the houses know about us. We have real freaking aliens and noticably different tech. They will come. Best they know we have teeth.

Can you imagine the fun part when someone from the IS gets a reading of one during operation and it promptly shatters the minds of the entire IS physics community and ComStar?

It's going to take time to perchlorate out to everyone and even then readings might just say it is a hpg anyway because they don't know the difference. Just lots of tiny hpg signals that don't close. But yeah stuff like that will rock foundations though still not as much as stuff like electronics like smart dust, they went a different path that is hardened as fuck but bulky and heavy. Iirc they have nothing near nanotech. The IS for various reasons, Cameron/Terra fuckery, has been mostly stagnant. Our ftl comm and drive advances whike first real tries for us still need to refine are first ground broken in centuries for them. As is both would replace current tech. The houses are really going to want to ally with us and thankfully we are not near the combine who would try to raid or conquer us. Marik are still genocidal assholes though so need to be careful there. We probably will end up in a alliance with the Lyrans/FedCom though. Have to see how things butterfly.
 
Now that you mention it...

It would be funny to have a reaction on hardened tech that lasts centuries vs cheap easily produced tech that peaple throw away withou second thought and the cultural implications...

Like Mech heads that inherit their mechs vs grunt that get one issued and easily get a new one after the old got shot out under their asses.
