Are Trump Supporters Racist?

There are plenty who voted on the "Build the wall!" as a single issue, largely due to the large US-Mexico Border. it's important to remember that Harsher Immigration Restrictions are already a mainstream political position in Europe.
Who cares? I am pointing out this does not all exist in a vacuum. Oh you voted for him to do this this and this? Well you put him in position to do this this and this.

And then we get to the heart of the issue. Is Trump a Nazi? Sexist, sure. Racist, definitely. Pathological Liar, Absolutely. But while Nazis are all those things, someone being all three does not make them a Nazi. Trump himself strikes me as more a Berlusconi figure who is just in it for himself. He's not doing a GRAB ALL THE CLAY on Canada or Mexico in a manner comparable to Germany in the 1930s.

What are you even going on about now? Because I never claimed he was a nazi and have not been arguing he is one. So did you get me mixed up with someone else or are just? I don't know?

Sorry about that. I'd definitely agree that Racism was a substantial part of Trump's support, but in actual effects, Trump is just ramping up what's already there just without the usual "shine" that presidents give.

Does supporting Trump mean your only Supporting immigration Restriction?
You can support him over only that, and most of the accusations of him being racist are over that, in case you've been buried under a rock the last four years. The policies of immigration restriction can be supported for racist reasons, xenophobic ones, purely opposition to the left-fringe open borders nonsense that's been signal boosted to popular perception or any of a variety of economic arguments.

If you want strong borders, regardless of reason, you're better off with Trump than the Democrats. And that's where the majority of the accusations of racism have been directed.
And? You keep going off on bizarre tangents
Might be addressing the wider arguments from losing track of which person they're replying to.

You think most of the accusations of him being racist are over that and you want to accuse me of being buried under a rock? Let s look back
  • 1973: The US Department of Justice — under the Nixon administration, out of all administrations — sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to black tenants and lied to black applicants about whether apartments were available, among other accusations. Trump said the federal government was trying to get him to rent to welfare recipients. In the aftermath, he signed an agreement in 1975 agreeing not to discriminate to renters of color without admitting to discriminating before.
  • 1980s: Kip Brown, a former employee at Trump's Castle, accused another one of Trump's businesses of discrimination. "When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor," Brown said. "It was the eighties, I was a teenager, but I remember it: They put us all in the back."
  • 1991: A book by John O'Donnell, former president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, quoted Trump's criticism of a black accountant: "Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it's probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It's not anything they can control." Trump at first denied the remarks, but later said in a 1997 Playboy interviewthat "the stuff O'Donnell wrote about me is probably true."
I mean guess you can tell yourself it's xenophobia if you focus on the last four years and ignore the past three decades or so. If his problem is xenophobia why does he think thousands of middle eastern Americans committed treason?

I have a simple counter-argument: He's been the President the last four years. Everyone with even small amounts of attention given to politics can't get away from him being called racist over the last four years.

In terms of serious incidents, I'd expect not, but in terms of the actual accusations, the over-95%-negative news coverage of him has combed over every miniscule detail of his Presidency to take every word as badly as possible. He makes it easy enough, but people are rather tired of the continuous calls of "racist". We have twenty million obsessed activists screaming every day now, if not much, much more, but ultimately still an obnoxious minority.

I'm not even 21 yet. Every one of those cases you quoted happened before I was born. Only started paying some degree of attention to politics in 2016, and even then it was so shallow I missed the meltdown over Trump's election. Everyone under 30 is going to know Trump primarily for the Presidency, because his nastiness wasn't splattered across every outlet every damn day until then. Rub people's faces in the petty shit too much and they won't take you seriously when you're talking about the big issues.

I don't see this stuff from before he ran for office being brought up with any frequency. Most people who call Trump racist, at least in terms of the signal rate, are saying it's because of his stance on immigration, or the "Muslim ban". People aren't talking about the shit he got up to in the 70s and 80s, or his contributions to the Birther nonsense. Not on any serious scale. But immigration? Every damn day.

That have got to be the most mealy mouthed, self serving excuse I've ever heard about excusing the behaviour of Trump I've ever read.

You do realize Trump have been bleating about Obama's 'real birth certificate' and religion since, what, 2012 or so? Unless your 'utilitarianism' is just you giving an excuse as to why you'd support some of Trump's more racist statements and issues.

This is about excusing his supporters, not Trump himself. As per the thread topic of whether or not his supporters are racist. If you pay attention to politics now, you can't get away from a constant barrage of shallow accusations, ones that are easily argued as xenophobic or nationalist if not unbigoted altogether, with a number of entirely separate reasons to support the policies being accused of being racist, including simply opposing the nonsense that's become the "face" of the left-wing position.

You do realize Trump have been bleating about Obama's 'real birth certificate' and religion since, what, 2012 or so?
And he was first among many, by 2012 only 13% of people admitted doubt, and I actually mentioned the birther nonsense as shit people aren't talking about. The incessant accusations of racism of the last four years haven't looked back to rub people's faces in the blatant shit from the past, instead obsessing over the tangentially bigoted policy with a number of other reasons to support it over what the Democrats talk about.

Can you stop pretending your a fifteen year old school girl and spit out all ready?

Can you make a coherent comment about something? Speaking of 15-year-old girls, this is about their intellectual level (and ability to use correct grammar).

What on earth are you talking about? This: is from as recentl as a few weeks ago about an entirely different Democrat, so it isn't just a Trump-Obama thing like you and the others make it out to be but a widespread contagion of stupidity currently plaguing American politics.

I commented about the seeming lack of people attacking Trump for having been a birther, which this article has nothing to do with, and am wondering why that is. And I said nothing about Trump/Obama things.

Apparently a guy who won a pulitzer prize for writing about Nazis thinks Trump is a Nazi and is willing to break ties with Marvel to say so.

Incidentally, Spiegelman is also the creator of the Garbage Patch Kids, if you're old enough to remember them..

Who cares and how is that relevant?

Whoever cares is whoever cares.

I mean, who cares why the hell a cartoonist says something about politics, and how is that relevant to anything? Also, do you ever do anything but insult and make snide remarks at people who have different opinions from you? (hey, you must be a fascist!)

Rock star likes Trump, cartoonist thinks Trump is a Nazi*, my plumber likes pizza. Who cares?

*and whose essay actually contains no evidence to support its central thesis that superheroes were a response to fascism. He has mastered the use of the comma, however, unlike some people I could mention.
