That... actually is interesting as a magic system, although I was thinking of it as just one of the magical 'fields'. A magic music 'field' where the study between magic and music is conducted...

... actually that bit is going to show up in when I finish chapter 5 in my GATE fic during the 'meanwhile, in Equestria' portion, and those on the Equestrian continent have a leg up on the Empire in that regard (and also explains why Equestrians occasionally break out into a musical number on occasion).

Hm, that could work as the original Roman calendar was usually 10 months before becoming reformed and becoming 12... if I read it right.

From what I can understand, the Romans tried all sorts of ways but the main way that stuck was essentially making months a bit longer... but even that didn't solve the problem. So you'll have to either modify the months or stay with a 12-month year (a solution that the Romans eventually settled with and we still use it to this day).
