The sun never set on the empire of the Seligian.

The entire world lie underneath the mercy of the Seligian. There was no worthy opposer. The only threat comes from within. Still, like many empire in the past, this is the time when they make a choice.

To chase the dream of an ever lasting empire, or to be content with what they have.

Like many empire in history, the dream of an ever lasting empire is impossible. Kingdom falls and rises, great and terrible leaders appeared and died, nothing is forever.

Still, like many empire in history, the Seligian is not content with what they have.

The war of expansion continues.

The Seligian's eldritch constructions march onto the battlefield, neutralizing all magic. Their soldiers, all superhuman, crush the remaining resistance.

Still, there are hope for the rest of the world. Certain environmental magic from far enough away can resist the constructs of the Seligian. The Gods of the people march onto the battlefield to oppose the tyranny of the empire.

However, there was only one that didn't make his appearance.

The God of the Seligian.

The Capital City of the Seligian, Arcmont

The construction of the One-Eyed Shadow God was underway.

As their expansion continues, the Seligian was met with heavy divine resistance.

The Gods of the world, or at least, avatars of the Gods rose up to oppose them. Rebel, leader of the resistance, saboteur, weapon of mass destruction.

All the different Gods serve different goals, and while the Seligian can oppose divine opponent with enough force, they are a nuisance. As thing continue, the prayers of the people of the world was becoming stronger, they screams out for help, and the avatar that was sent become more and more dangerous. If this continues, the dream of an endless empire will be an unattainable dream.

And so the conqueror went home and pray.

Their own god, the One-Eyed Shadow God was an elusive god. It is unknown when he was worshipped within the Seligian culture, however, for the longest time, the One-Eyed has always been there.

The One-Eyed Shadow God watches over the children as the Seligian men and women went out to conquer, and when they come home, the children would be safe, that is the promise the Shadow god makes with them.

However, the Shadow God was contradictory, he was a god that watches over the children, he was also someone that lurks in the Shadow.

Even to now, the existence of the One-Eyed Shadow God cannot be confirmed. Even with the knowledge of the other culture, the One-Eyed one refuses to come. It was not even a lack of faith, despite the Seligian's lack of faith for other culture, they are pragmatic enough to believe in the existence of God, and their own God of course.

It is possible that the One-Eyed one does not exist, however, all of these prayers and worships have to go somewhere.

The religious scholar postulates a theory, as someone who lurks in the shadow, a god of shadow, the One-Eyed one is evasive by nature.

Effort to get him to appear in the battlefield was doomed to failure in the first place. Still, the Seligian built towers and monuments.

They built magnificent temples on the bone and blood of the conquered people.

Wherever they place the statue of the One-Eyed Shadow God, the avatars of the gods of that region stopped appearing to oppose them.

It is unknown when the One-Eyed will appear, however, the leading theory is that, when the old One-Eyed appears, he is going to destroy the world.

The most worshippers, the most territory, the most powerful nation, the One-Eyed has never appeared despite all the prayers.

When it is his time however, the rest of the world can only think about it and despair, something catastrophic is on the horizon.

And yet still, the Seligian eagerly awaits that day.

Watching from the highest building in Arcmont, the One-Eyed Shadow God watches on. Just where will his people, these willful people.

This is a story of the one who does the oppressing.

Strangers
Three travelers were sitting around a fire, sharing the warm.

Winter was cold within the Seligian empire's border. Which border, no one know, but it was cold nonetheless. As the annexation continues, a few people started to run from the army. A few cross over to the Seligian border in hope of a better life. A few cross the border in hope of revenge.

No matter who they are, currently they are sharing a fire.

A person is crying. She is one of the long-eared kind who was hunted lately as the Seligian expanded south. Another traveler's ears and limbs were cold from the exposure. A beastman, she wanted a new beginning, but crossing the border was hard.

Another person is sitting by the fire. He was the one who started the fire in a snowstorm, it hard to keep a fire going.

Despite being cold, when she comes across the fire, the beastman was acting smoothly.

"Hi there, might if I sit?"

The stranger just nods, allowing the eager girl to warm herself up.

The scent of food permits the air, it was surprising to have food in this kind of weather.

Being suspicious, the long-eared kin looked at the stranger.

"You are a Seligian?"

However, the stranger didn't answer her.

He starts looking north. The smell of meat makes the wait unbearable for the long-eared kin.

"I'm watching over the people who cross the Seligian empire's border. It is winter, there is a snowstorm out. A lot of the refugees die crossing. At least, if I start a fire in the storm with food, perhaps people could see it in the storm and don't freeze to death."

The Elf was silent while the beastman suddenly smiles

"What a wonderful idea. How kind of you. Surely there will be tales of your kindness. You can leave it to me, I'm a famous storyteller."

However, the only thing the elf mutters was

"How useless"

The stranger looks upon her, the long-eared kin stare back

"How can you say to be helping people, when right now, your kinsman is killing my people?"

Her voice raises slowly. The beastman was waving at her to tell her to knock it of.

"Why do you even perform this useless action, why won't you be like your nation and wish all of us death?" However, the temper did not go down.

"I don't know."

The stranger adds more wood to the fire.

"I am just a random traveler."

The stranger told the elf. The meat was delicious.

After a while, the elf begrudgingly share the roasted meat.

With that bit and two other strangers, they survive the night.

When morning come, each of them go their separate way. The elf is heading toward the nearest village on the outskirt of the empire. The beastman is heading toward the capital, the heart of the empire with big dream. The stranger returns to his route.

That winter, was a harsh one again. The gods are unkind toward the territories of the Seligian empire.

That night, only two refugees survive. Surrounding them was a field of white covering countless other fallens. When the gods lash out against the Seligian empire, it is hard to know who they will hit in the crossfire. In truth, it is the refugees who are hit the hardest, not the Seligian.

Poor, outcast, shunted refugees. They rarely have a home or any stability unlike the Seligian who have a social net catching them. When disaster hit, they will be the first to bite the bullet.

The Seligian government would rather every and all refugees die before letting a single pureblooded Seligian die of starvation.

At their parting, the stranger wave at the two girls one last time. He gets their attention before digging up a patch of snow.

Underneath the snow, there was a frozen corpse, caught in the storm.

In the snowstorm last night at the border, only two people survive.

There was three at the scene.

Suddenly the voice of the stranger become distant, his appearance was blurry, scaring both the elf and the beastman.

"Do not come back to this place. Too many people have died. The gods have casted their wrath on this land."

So saying, the stranger disappears into the snow.

Seeing the man, being emotional, the elf utters

"Did you die too, in this cold place?"

However the corpse that was buried has a different face than that of the stranger.

"Or is it a god that has guided us"

She says. So saying, she turns her back.

""Don't worry, I won't come back.

Not until the Seligian empire has fallen/Not until I have become famous"" the two travelers departed.

In the distance, in the snow, another fire was started
