Fesarius vs. Borg cube

Okay, the Fesarius, seen in the TOS Trek ep The Corbomite Maneuver, vs. a Borg Cube. No gaming stuff here, just what we saw on screen.
Well?

I thought this was an interesting concept so I'll bite.

We know very little about the first federations capabilities, but we do know they are not infallible. The Borg have assimilated federation outposts, ships, etc and should know of the Fesarius itself. One thing we do know is that well into the 24th century the First Federation was trading with the UFP.

Since we get no indication in either TBoBW or First Contact that the first federation, who when last we saw appeared to be on good terms with the UFP, had sent any vessels to engage the Borg I suspect that while their technology is advanced it's not particularly combative, it seems they focus more on disabling their enemies, rather than destroying them.

For the Borg they likely know this (as per above) and they almost certainly are aware of their ability to 'scan and shut down' vessels. I suspect the Borg would not wait around for the normal play and at the first sign of hostility would engage.

Interestingly enough both the Borg and the First Federation use cubes and spheres with no obvious engines. I suspect the two have a closer tech base and it is also (conjecture mind you) possible that the two may even consider each other peers enough to not engage in formal combat. The galaxy is old after all.

Good points. My one point to differ on, however, would be that I am sure that the FF would keep some secrets, as their tech is apparently ahead of the UFP in many respects. Thus, there would be aspects of the FFs tech that would not have been available to the Borg, when they assimilated Federation ships and personnel. Plus, I am sure they have improved in many ways since first encountering the Enterprise. The Borg very likely could be in for some surprises.
Still, you raise some good points. Any more? Anyone else?????

Even limited knowledge is dangerous in the hands of the borg. They are a hiveminded species that essentially exists for the sole purpose of adding everyone's techbase to their own. If you think they haven't gone beyond any "kept back" stuff, you don't know the borg.

I was merely positing one possible interpretation. Please, elaborate on yours.

Well then the Fesarius just drives of a Borg Cube, i think that a big ship wins over a smaller ship.

"just drives of"??????

Fesarius crew Borgified.

I don't see why not. The ships and crew that went up against the Borg in TNG were far more technologically advanced and experienced with hostile aliens and they still got screwed pretty hard on first contact iirc

What I meant was that the Fesarius had a crew of one. Just Balok, who ran the whole thing from his small ship. Not alot of crew to assimilate.
Or am I misunderstanding you?
