Oh we are doing divisions? We generally seem to deploy by regiment so figured that was what ussually use on offensive or at least what can be transported but sure divisions are awesome.
The Regiment part was largely due to limited dropship avaiablility for the drop on Circinus and for the moment it stuck.

Now, there is nothing keeping us from going to deploy full divisions. Once the ligistics and other issues are sorted out. Maybe some sort of version of the Planetary Settlement Kit for local resupply with non-food items to shorten the logistics chain.

Good that will freak out the houses to since they generally cant deploy them anymore and even FedCom RCT are bulky bastards to move in full. Probable can fold those into the outpost vehicles. A 4th version that instead of acting as mobile repair sits far back as a fabricator/minifacture system.

A Drashy can carry a regiment of abot 1000 people with vehicles and the like. About ten to twenty can carry an entire Division. Now add them to a WarShip of ours with compact drop collars and, say, twenty of those and we can transport and drop an entire division anywhere we choose.

Maybe I will design a few Drashy variants specializing in certain transport versions. Vehicle transport, troop transport, mech transport, logistics fabricator... Should easily get a nice Division on the move.

Did not know Drashy was that versatile. Yeah make a 40 collar warship and that would be 2 division just like that. Thats just insane 6 of those could drop 12 divisions on a target. Not since the star league and the first succession war has that been possible i think. IIRC at the height of the 4th Davion dropped like 8 regiments on a planet and it was a wtf shock.

edit: Yeah totally should make variants.

And I need to write up some sort of general Order of Battle on the various levels...

Yeah Divisions probable be different based on species/nation of origin and what they are actually doing. Probable be a interesting thought experiment.

Actually question what happened to our governer? Tiast Kerod Ildunt? He ok and leading the recovery or did he die on the front lines?

He is a General. He's not stupid enough to lead from the front. So he's leading the recovery and here is very, very visible.

Never know that battle was very bruttal an the Cav would have tried for killing commanders if he could be ID'ed and he might have end up on front anyway trying to force the bastards back before they killed more people. Good for him though. people probable going to love him i hope.

He went into one of the bunkers prepered for this eventuality the moment droppers entered the atmosphere. And he's not an IS general who would be in his mech leading from the front, so he was safe from any targeted kill, working to coordinage his forces.

Which probable perplexed the Cav since officers lead from the front is so ingrained. Hell people were suprised Focht lead the comquards from a bunker instead of directly fighting.

Glaring at people with six eyes after they called him a coward, seems to have been quite effective. Especially after noting that he is not suicidal and that he trusts his commanders in the field to make the right decisions, so that he can focus on the big picture.

Funny thing to think in like 10 years in game we will probable hit the point of being able to kill a given successor state at will or at least rapidly cripple at this rate. Our warships will be able to brush aside basically anything the houses can throw at us and if we make 20 or 40 collar warships we can rapidly move by the division. Imagine jumping Tharkard or Atreus with multiple BB and cruisers and hot drop 12 to 24 division to wreck everything then leave. Technically we might be able to hold down a decent number of worlds... But that would go against the WCDC ethics and cause many problems trying to assimilate hostile worlds.

That plenty of metal... I think? Actually what is a our force composition. 4 vehicles to a squad/lance? 10 troopers to a squad?

Think been mentioned before. Honestly probable does not matter much since should only be moving by regiment or division but guess useful to know.

Edit: 40 craft so 1 40 collar warship. Lets call it the Carry-All for now could move a single division. Add in some storage, food primarily i think, and fabricators... to make a specific design just for division transport... Yeah that could be a very potent long range strike craft or perhaps transport for colonists for crazy long voyages. Thats the kind of boat that could make movement between IS and Clan homeworlds far more easy and that would scare the crap out of them and intrigue more than one clan that would like to move.

I'm more interested on what the Clans would thing if we'd send five entire divisions their way as they invade the Inner Sphere...
Their worst nightmare personified and a massive tantrum? Every clan warrior that can will be attacking or bidding in for the attack. 5 would not be near enough though. Rough ball park of each division would be equal to galaxy they would get swarmed under. Though probable break a clan or 3 depending how well things go. Clan clusters are generally equal to a regiment and a galaxy is made up of 2 to 6 clusters. Toumen would be the entire warrior caste of a clan.

Those Divisions would have WarShip support though... They could come, but they'd have to get through the gauntlet of WarShips sniping at them, and ACCs (Advanced Combat Craft) poking at their droppers and aerospace fighters.

It becomes a question of circumstances really. A invasion of the homeworlds is such they will throw everything at us unless we are making a formal trial of it and don't provoke them needlessly. We can probable take out their warships but it will be a fight unless we go all out from start because of weight of numbers and depends if they can jump in close enough to bring guns to bear before missiles attrition them to death. They don't really do naval fighting much so a advantage there in skill perhaps and vehicles though. Their relic warships probable will not fair that well in direct combat but most certainly can hurt or kill us. They don't do dropship combat so our ACC's should dominant even if more level tech field and clanner skill. you dont get in a postion unless you can earn it so even dropper pilots are capable fighters if unused to being pulled into it. Aroespace is probable a toss up. Great fighters kinda shity pilots despite being literally bred and trained from birth for it.

Ground combat is where they focus and they will be very challenging foes there. 5 divisions is enough to raid but not conquer and even the civilian populace will passively aggressively resist. Doing so will call the clans full attention to us and might get one or more to try to invade us. If we did try i would make it a formal trial of possession or if very ballsy absorption targeting a clan or enclave and take it then grab the people and infrastructure and run home. Or we could just go total war and rampage with hit and run attacks until losses forced us to leave. We could very easily cripple the clans that way just because they would probable be mostly unprepared for such. Which itself would set off a feeding frenzy...

A more immediate concern is how we end up in that situation. Baring some scenario of clan defectors we have no idea of their home worlds location or idea that a major political party among them is let's go restore the star league by conquest. Who cares that we don't have the logistics and are out numbered by a absurd margin. Honor and glory to us we can't lose for we are the inheritors of star league and the greatest of Humanity. In all likelihood our first in game knowledge will be if/when they invade and then things get interesting for us. We have a peace treaty with the FedCom not a mutual defense. It will be a turn or three before we really get a clear picture of what is happening because one smart thing the clans were doing was preventing word from spreading at least at first by letting no jumpships escape if they could help it.

There is a good chance Hanse will come to us at that point with increasing probability each turn and say name your price but I need your warships and any forces you can spare.

How we respond will be a shatter point for the game.

In all likelihood we will help but even we do not it is in our interests to find out more and back track the invasion. Our sensors will really help but so will fact clanner internal security is a joke. Even if they hard lock and guard navigation data they gave away a lot in canon on their local stellar neighborhood just talking about features like the nebula they hide behind. Give it a year or two and we should be able to find them. Still we will need to halt the initial invasion which will still be pretty ugly. Hard to say because of changes here but hopefully this time around they will not just run over everyone they meet casually. Specifics at that point get to fuzzy to really postulate on though. Have to wait and see what happens because so much depends on which and how many clans invade and shape of Inner Sphere at that point. Heck would not surprise me if a clan tried to jump us as well.

A question I am wondering is how many Jumpships do we have completed ready to sell at this time (or when the conference ends) and have we been selling them yet?

...Hahaha... Yeah um. Saw this and on a lark went and try to ball park it. 20 a month since spring 2184 and it is 2186... so around 480? At least a few will be used internally but that still leaves a pile of ship gathering dust waiting to be sold because far as i know we never did because conference took center stage but should be available now and holy crap thats a lot of jumps ships.

Blade4

Still a lot of badly needed ships to sell between the houses... Hanse is probable going to get upset when he realizes if he had not started the conference he could have had first or only pick.

Bidding war between them and future production should be quite a sight.
