Growing Horizons: Inner Sphere - Quest

So how long we gonna be pissed at the FedCom? I can see keep snubbing them like another few turns but we cant keep being pissed because we need decent to good relations with them. Thinking of trade deals with Lupus and Marik before FedCom but beyond that...

[X] Far Star Station:
With the coordinates of the other side of the Number Station known, an operation should be launched to take a look at the source of the Number Station traffic.
Time: 8 turns, Chance of success: 45%, Reward: More information on the Number Station transmissions

[X] Space Mining II:
The industrial capacity of the OCP is growing and with it grows the need for raw materials, be they gassious, liquid or solid. Projects should be started to improve the raw material situation of the OCP and possibly even export those raw materials.
Time: 4 turns, Chance of success: 70%, Reward: More Raw Materials, +5 on internal and external trade

[X] Space Industry II:
While the industrial capacity of the OCP grows, more industry needs to be move from the planetary surface into space, where even the dirtiest processes can be used to produce good without pollution. In turn, this means more production.
Time: 4 turns, Chance of success: 60%, Reward: More space borne industrial capacity, +5 on internal and external trade

We need to catch up on Far Station as fast as we could as it is most likely Comstar's bugout location, and cut off the snake's head.

And we need to catch up on Space Industry and Mining so we can keep up growing our military as our next military actions should be force expansion and fortification of Circinus. We still need to outgun the clans with still functional WarShip fleet.

I would say we probable already do unless we face the total fleet which is rather doubtful because of zellbring and mutual animosity amongst them. Any given clan fleet save the Ravens we are probable gonna curbstomped and that with what we got now. Once we upgrade the beating is just going to get more lopsided.

Edit: We also have more space side industry and mining then basically anyone not the Confed of Habitats.

The beatings will continue until morale improves!
Now with our big fraking guns and fight in the shade missile waves all our small boys have tasers in their particle guns. Because true love is you twiching on the ground as we lovingly pound you.

Edit: Oh sweet you updated the weapons sheet need to go through that now.

edit2: Uh quite frankly it just swaps older weapons for new. Same tonnage and crits looks like. Should make upgrades far easier. Though increase heat might be a issue.

We might be facing their total fleet though, minus whatever Nova Cats took away with them, as Nova Cat defecting most likely shakedown Clans usual power dynamics and force hands of Warden clans that didn't agree with the invasion of the Inner Sphere originally. And yes, they might eventually prioritize attacking us as we are not only the source of this commotion, and faction Nova Cats went to, we are also the faction that currently blockades Terra. If any Clan wants to go to Terra, they now have to go through us.
We will anger most if not all remaining Clans eventually.
We also need to have economical parity with Confederation with Habitats, we can't afford to lose to them in economical power.

Not really? I think we might see several clans come at the Lupus and then get their shit kicked in by us helping but more likely this will be the excuse to kick off the invasion the crusaders want to badly. Any clan not driving for Terra is basically giving up and that is not happening that and the bidding process will fuck them over. It make sense in small set piece battle duels but they used it even in the full invasion in canon and it hard fucked them. Any attackers are liable to greatly underestimate us until they actually fight us and that is going to be a terrifying and exhilarating thing for them. They are supposed to be the best warriors Humanity has and we can match or exceed them blow for blow and outright stomp them in space.

They are going to take that as a challenge.

Our mere existence is liable to piss the crusaders off terminally. The rest are more flexible as seen with the Cats.
We also need to have economical parity with Confederation with Habitats, we can't afford to lose to them in economical power.
Which we probable cant? @Warringer can we get a rough estimate please? They have had literally near a thousand years to steadily grow and expand. We are not closing on that easily unless they have been hard holding back. Which they could if their habitats call for controlled growth.

Ugh nukes, sabotage, bioweapons Terra just can't catch a break in this verse.

And more pants must be shat now that yet another previously thought as insignificant power pulls a Warship Fleet out of its ass :p

Hanse must be having kitten fits.

Everyone is probable having adorable kittens coming out both ends. The belters are supposed to be irrelevant nobodies not people who could have dictated terms to the houses for the last century or so and probable still can for a good while. The only ones with a navy worth spit is us, the Lupus Republic, and now the CoH. The houses at best can throw a few dropships with meh level air wings with nukes and hope to get lucky. Which they might not even get if CoH has sane PD. Things are going to get interesting as everyone is suddenly very interested in their business and trying to make or force deals and all the spy game about to begin. The houses are so going to be crash building warship programs. They were a major priority already but this is just going to drive it even further. The houses must have warships or they are strategically screwed.

And yeah Terra is were hope goes to die.

A rough estimate is that the CoH are about the same economic wise as we are. They are highly individualistic and that means that most of their industry is based around what we in Germany would call 'Mittelstand', with medium sized companies working their economy. Additionally that economy is not set up to expand quickly and only to satisfy internal needs, not to export stuff, which fits with their desire to be largely left alone. It will take time for them to fully realise that they now have incurred the interest of the FedCom and won't be left alone after this. Their industry is also not actually set up to innovate as much as ours is, a thousand years of slow and steady advance n any area outside of biotech is liable for that. And fabricators are a big game changer for us anyway...

Ah so hard holding back for cultural reasons and lack of need. Yeah they are going to need it now. Wonder if we can set up a deal for industry with them? If not tools and machinery then trainers help in rapid expansion perhaps?

Mittelstand. Learn something new every day.

Be interesting to hear more about this move anyway. Was made pretty dang fast so got to wonder did a xenophile group jump the gun with a good excuse or where they building up to this. Could see some civil unrest or war because i bet a lot of people are not happy that the ground dwellers obsessed with war know they exist now.

We can't rely on that. With Nova Cats defecting so early there has been a paradigm shift inside clans and it's most likely they changed their views completely, leaving them with practically only with Crusader attitude ones (as Wardens are leaving)

They will not get rid of their warrior culture so quickly, it's too deeply ingrained, however they might decide for a combined attack now their tradition is breaking up. You can't rely on the fact they will underestimate us.

Fascinating so this is what happens when mom and pop stores are allowed to grow and flourish and not get rolled over by huge faceless corporations. Why cant my business class talk about stuff like this?

Major shift but until we get a read on the situation not sure what is going on. The Wolfs at least should still be very much warden though and so should a few others but this will trigger a early invasion i think. Right now they are probable going through major cultural upheaval and hell far as we know they could be falling on each other not unlike the reaving wars. And yes they will underestimate us. In canon they though they were going to liberate the fuck out of the IS and win eternal glory. They believed it so easy they cut down to just 4 invading clans and 2 reserve out of like 17 and the invaders cut down even more using only most or a few of their galaxies and kept using bidding in the invasion proper. They got away with it because of ocp surprise, shear tech advantage, and dev fiat. ~100,000 warriors in the entire clans and they thought they were going to roll 2,000+ star systems first by seizing Terra then rolling out from there even though they were also invading from over a 6 month one way supply chain. They dont even know we exist and if they did they would assume us more freebirth barbarians that need to be conquered or protected for our own good.

Going by training so far we are going to punch in their teeth in a direct fight.

Actually a new possibility. Could we help them evac directly when time come for final push? We can bring warships with 20 collars and entire fleets. And we could bring a division or 4. There is no hiding the final stages of the exodus so they will fight but can we bid in on that? It helps our allies. Lets us fight the clans directly and might help buy time. If the clans think we are average or below for the IS they are going to be far more careful about invading. A invasion right now would be disastrous. The FedCom is overextended and exhausted and will need 5 years at least to rebuild and simply dont have the tech ready to fight yet. The Combine successors are not even a speed bump at this point.

Or we could go asshole route and say nothing and just help the Lupus for now. Let a invasion happen sometimes in the next 5 years then let things roll and see if we can come out on top as the FedCom collapses and clans get bogged down trying and failing to suppress worlds where the populations of small towns are greater than their entire planetary occupying force...

Something to think about.

They want to keep it secret, so that the huge faceless corporations win.

Both of those options are in the cards.

Keep in mind that the Tillman also got 40 collars... ;)

And there will be potentially larger Landing Craft be incoming. Something along the line of the Colossus.

The other Clans are for the most part not aware that Nova Cat and some others are getting the heck out of there. Yet.

Note: The Serray was specially designed to be able to use its arms and hands to pick up vehicles and mechs up to 60 tonnes and throw them over up to 100 meters.

They turned out a bit different that I expected... Based on the original fluff from Turn 51... Especially the Serray is pretty much a Zombie Mech... Which can pick up and throw vehicles and mechs up to 60 tons and throw them...

Both were used by the 2nd Expeditionary Division in their wargames with the Republic, so...

Do we really have to call it after that racist blowhard...that's early 20th century US citizens talking about that guy, not me. Let that sink in: Early 20th century US public thought that he should tone his racism down a notch.
And yet he is best known for extremely big battleships. Which is the only thin he is remembered for by history.

They dont even know we exist and if they did they would assume us more freebirth barbarians that need to be conquered or protected for our own good.
This is our only defense against them though. We are much smaller than the Inner Sphere and attacking us doesn't involve occupying a few dozen underdeveloped planets where you need to keep part of your force behind before advancing to another planet. We have only a few planets, with only one central target you need to attack and bid your entire force on, in one decisive battle. Additionally, we are easier to reach than Terra, and unlike Terra, for Inner Sphere, our Earth holds much greater importance. Who knows if Warden clans maintain their Warden philosophies, Nova Cat exodus is very unlike they did before, and we don't know what situation in their space even is. And they have some information about us too, I think we lost a ship which most likely ended in their hands

Who knows if Warden clans maintain their Warden philosophies, Nova Cat exodus is very unlike they did before, and we don't know what situation in their space even is. And they have some information about us too, I think we lost a ship which most likely ended in their hands
You forget that based on population, the Confederation had more people under arms than any of the Inner Sphere powers. I'm not only talking about the Confederated Forces, but also the various national militaries that still exist and can be requested to support the Confederated forces.

In 2176, Sol alone had 125 ground divisions across all nations, with about 2.5 million people under arms, and the same number in the various Air Forces. For Beta Hydri, its even worse at 245 divisions with about 4.9 million people under arms and 3.1 million in their Air Forces.

How much do the Clans have? 100.000+? If they land anywhere on Earth, our military swarms them. And that is after they managed to punch their way through an orbital defence grid specially designed to intercept large numbers of Combat Craft/Advanced Combat Craft, which means Assault Dropships for the Clans, as well as faster missiles, in preparation for the Onouch'l Automatons (Berserkers) to prevent The Plague from touching the planet.

The only problem we face when it comes to using our military strength is that we cannot deploy them all off planet.
