Julian Assange Arrested

Finally that bastard is behind bars, he is a problem that has to be taken care of because -unsurprisingly- our technological context has shifted the moral calculus. I hope he gets stuffed in ADX and left to be forgotten, because of him he helped Russia get Trump and the GOP in charge in 2016.
Send political criminals to the gulag!

Excellent, Aaron. You are already adapting to the new system.

If a spy calls himself a journalist, the defence won't hold for long. And a foreign agent coordinating the access to classified data and its release with the goal of harming the government on behalf of another foreign government? Well, it's kinda spying...
Nyet.

For one, if a spy calls himself a journalist, he's either an idiot, or a spy of unusual sort(— Guns? Drugs? Contraband? — No, thank you. I've got mine.), or he actually is a journalist. It's a recognized legal status, not just occupation.

For two, the press exists to harm the government. It's the whole point of having independent press and the reason to why freedom of the press is rightfully considered very important for the health of state. It doesn't even matter what it is, democracy or some kind of extreme pizdets like Imperium of Man. What is good for the government does not necessarily mean that it's good for the nation and vice versa. Moreover, unlike the idiotic fantasies of those suffering from 4th stage brain liberasty, there is no such thing as Government. It's an institution that manned by individuals operating in divisions and controlled by cliques. A hypothetical journalist releasing information that harms a particular part of the government or a group of government officials does not necessarily mean that it is indeed to the detriment of the government as a whole. More often than not it's, in fact, the opposite.

The fun part is that applying a security classification markings on the files with the relevant information is perfectly good and workable way of covering up any amount of shit, to protect oneself from having to answer awkward questions, and deny the potential adversaries in political games access to extra ammunition, for they are always interested in information that can be used against you and to the detriment of your political career, standing, etc.

Simply put, when something is classified on the grounds that leaving(making) it available in public domain allegedly is against the best interest of state and people, for it will prove detrimental to the national security, may put lives of friendly military personnel at risk, lead to undue expense and so on and so forth, this is not grounds to consider that this is actually true. It's perfectly possible that the only thing that is highly likely to end up in peril if you take a look inside, fail to not give in to the insistent demands of your conscience or the sense of justice and share it with the buddy of a buddy who's married a journalist, is going to be someone's career perspectives, position or profits.

There's one problem though. Independent press? In States? What, really? :D

If they had at least some of that freedom of the press they claim to have in spades, instead of circus with the WikiLeaks they would have got a cataclysmic clusterfuck the likes of which United States have seen the last time in about half a century ago, after the Vietnam.

@Rufus Shinra, got a little something for your dad's collection. The previously classified 'List of information, prohibited for publishing in the public media', the Head Directorate for Information Security under the Council of Ministers of USSR, 1976.

Link.

For those who aren't quite familiar with how much we, dastardly orcs of Mordor, did(and do) enjoy our precious paranoia, @Lerticus, could you please take a brief look at it and give us a TL;DR, what kind of things on the Soviet military- and military-related anything the Soviet media were allowed to tell the readership on pages of their respective publications. In one sentence.

Snitches get buried in ditches.
— You're working at the library, you have probably read numerous books! A thousand? Two?!
— Three.
— So ma~
— Books.
— Err... Which ones?
— The Alphabet. The second. The blue one.
— Well, o-okay... What did you do for a living before you became a bouncer in the library?
— In Putin's presidential security detail.
— What, really?! B-but why leaving? Why did you quit?
— I was fired.
— But why? For what?
— For reading. The classified documents. Aloud.

Honestly, this is his own fault. Regardless of whether you believe the initial charges or whether he should be tried in the US, this has happened because he was sch a total jackass to the people who were trying to help him.

So typically American… Not interested in justice but in baseless vengeance. Assange isn't the one who forced you to have an Electoral College, no ? It's thanks to this you have now Trump and the GOP.

... A-a-and then they ask, why i consider the average American to be a braindead parrot unless(until) proved otherwise? Seriously, the God issued you people perfectly good, fully operational brain. Could you please stop trying to piss off the omnipotent being with your staunch refusal to respect what he did for you and use that brain of yours by its intended purpose? If anything, it's not us who will not survive the next Great Flood, Ice Age, Apocalypse or whatever else he will inflict upon the humans for such insolence, which cannot be said about you.

If you want to see the ones who got Trump and the GOP in charge in 2016, look at the mirror. What is that you claim to be the so-called core values of yours? Freedom, equality, justice? Then STFU and...

Daily reminder that Assange help outed gay men in Saudi Arabia.
People like to pretend that a person can be only one thing, and since they are that one thing they cannot be anything else. It is delusional, but it is also very common.

What makes it delusional? Look at anyone with a favorite party in politics, and they will justify criminal actions from their candidates because they cannot look beyond the party name. In this case it is ignoring that throughout millennia of human history foreign agents and assets have concealed their activities behind another public image.

Just because someone can be a journalist on one occasion does not mean that they also cannot be a criminal conspirator. In reality, the history of espionage has proven that it is far more common to generate goodwill within the enemy camp while also undermining and plotting against those same enemies.

Congratulations, you just found out that the gay community is a threat and national security concern, which is the actual practical reason behind the whole 'let's tolerate gay people instead of prosecuting them as we previously did'.

He helped undermine our democracy, not to mention he had many people killed with his shenanigans...

No, the US regime. Trump hasn't changed jack shit to the political system that is NOT a democracy.

Eh its a federal republican oligarchical something but till Trumpster they were pretty good at, at least, feigning and having legitimacy but the second guy in a row that lost the popular vote by millions of votes but nevertheless came to rule? Yea we are entering "regime" territory.

Lol once he gets extradited to the U.S Bubba is going to be waiting for him in the prison shower.
You just said you hope Bubba Big Dick gets a hold of him? I dislike the asshat but wishing the guy was ass raped is a little rough, mate. Maybe the Euros don't get the reference because they think they're better but wishing a guy who is caught to be prison raped by comes off as being an ass yourself.

Not sure if serious.jpg
Dead serious. I don't have time to write you a proper, suitably detailed answer(way to much to explain for it to be considered a job well done), so i'll give you a TL;DR and some evidence, ok?

The prosecution of homosexualism is rooted in:
a) Religon. It is morally right or wrong to indulge oneself in such a thing, and to what degree?
b) Science. Is it natural or acquired condition(disease, disorder, etc)? Is it healthy(ignore), not healthy(treat), or socially dangerous(suppress)?
c) Law. Is it productive(encourage), detrimental(discourage), or dangerous(suppress)?

If you take a perfectly spherical debate on the topic in the Western internets, you may come to a conclusion that it is being waged by a bunch of half-naive half-retarded juvenile persons whom are conditioned to have no concept of a difference between the tolerance and what in Russia is called 'tolerasty', equating intolerance with a homophobia, and consider all manifestations of intolerance to the thing in question to be doing of the raging homophobes, uneducated and irrational.

Suffice it to say that i've called them half-naive half-retarded juvenile persons for a reason. A rational person that is capable of intelligent thinking makes intelligent decision to seek the rational explanation of both policy of tolerance, and practice of intolerance. This is what separates the intelligent people from the electorate of that very amusing woman who said that to be 'factually correct' on something is less of a priority than to be 'morally right' about it.

Allow me to illustrate. Ever heard of Utrecht Sodomy Trials in XVIII century?
The major anti-gay purge of the eighteenth century occurred in the Netherlands. In April 1730 some men were arrested in Utrecht; they incriminated others, and on 21 July the States of Holland issued a Placat, posted in every town, that set off wide-scale persecution. The document began with the customary warnings about the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah, then lamented that no laws had heretofore been provided to punish "this execrable crime of sodomy", and concluded with its measures for obliterating this evil: that sodomy be punished by death, that those who offer their homes for its commission also die, that their corpses be burned to ashes and thrown into the sea "or exposed as unworthy of burial", that the names of the convicted — including the fugitives — be publicly posted, and that the magistrates be specially authorised to investigate thoroughly any suspicions, particularly against those who mysteriously flee the province.
Some 250 men were summoned before the authorities; 91 faced decrees of exile for not appearing. At least 60 men were sentenced to death. For example: In Amsterdam, Pieter Marteyn Janes Sohn and Johannes Keep, decorator, were strangled and burnt, 24 June 1730; Maurits van Eeden, house servant, and Cornelis Boes, age 18, Keep's servant, were each immersed alive in a barrel of water and drowned, 24 June; Laurens Hospuijn, Chief of Detectives in the Navy, was strangled and thrown into the water with a 100-pound weight, 16 September. At The Hague, Frans Verheyden, Cornelis Wassemaar, milkman, Pieter Styn, embroiderer of coats, Dirk van Royen, and Herman Mouilliont, servant, were hanged and afterwards thrown into the sea at Scheveningen with 50-pound weights, 12 June; Pieter van der Hal, grain carrier, Adriaen Kuyleman, glove launderer, David Muntslager, agent, and Willem la Feber, tavern keeper, were hanged and thrown into the sea with 100-pound weights, 21 July. In Kampen: Jan Westhoff and Steven Klok, soldiers, were strangled on the scaffold and buried under the gallows, 29 June. In Rotterdam, Leendert de Haas, age 60, candlemaker, Casper Schroder, distiller, Huibert v. Borselen, gentleman's servant, were strangled, burnt, and their ashes carried in an ash cart out of the city and then by ship to the sea and thrown overboard, 17 July. And at Zuidhorn, at least twenty-two men were executed on 24 September 1731, including Gerrit Loer, age 48, farmer; Hendrik Berents, age 32; Jan Berents, age 19 — all scorched while alive and then strangled and burnt to ashes; twelve others aged 20-45 were strangled and burnt; and eight youths aged 16-19 were strangled and burnt, including Jan Ides, age 18, who said upon hearing his sentence: "I forgive you for the sin which you have committed against me."

How did that happen?

In the eighteenth century the Dutch Republic challenged England's proud boast that it was the freest country in Europe. During their eighty-years' struggle with Spain, the United Provinces were a haven for Spanish and Portuguese Jews, French Huguenots, English Puritans, and even Catholics. The Dutch East India Company had established trade links with half the world, so that all faiths rubbed shoulders in the markets of Amsterdam, where Mammon competed with Jehovah and Muslims could worship in the only mosque in Christendom. Despite clerical opposition, Spinoza published biblical studies challenging the very bases of Christianity, and many of the most radical authors of the Enlightenment found publishers in The Hague or Amsterdam. Superstition too seemed to have abated: the last burning for witchcraft had taken place in 1595; such trials did not end in England until 1712 and in France until 1718. Given this record of toleration, it is an irony of history that the most deadly persecution of homosexuals known to us before Hitler took place in the Netherlands in the eighteenth century.
It began in 1730 when two men were arrested for sodomy in the provincial capital of Utrecht. They implicated a twenty-two-year-old exsoldier and gentleman's servant named Zacharias Wilsma, who had been intimately associated with homosexual circles in several cities.83 Wilsma, in turn, identified some 140 other men. As a result, investigations followed in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Haarlem, and Leiden. Soon, to an extent unprecedented 462 homosexuality and civilization in European history, the republic was engaged in a witch hunt for sodomites that engulfed the entire country. Eventually the search spread to many smaller towns, including Delft, Groningen, Heusden, Kampen, Leeuwarden, Middelburg, Naarden, Ryswyk, Schieland, Utrecht, Vianen, Voorburg, Woerden, Zutphen, and Zwolle.84 In the end, about 250 trials took place.85 More than a hundred men who had fled the country were condemned in absentia and permanently exiled. Of those who faced their judges, at least seventy-five were executed.

-snip-
Not surprisingly, since arrests and executions had already taken place, many men had already fled the country. Consequently, it was ordered that any who "without apparent good cause" had left their homes since May 1 should be exiled if they failed to explain their absence. Most wealthy or influential men who were implicated did escape abroad. But an alderman from Delft, a city father from Haarlem, and Frederick van Reede van Renswoude, an eminent diplomat and president of the Knightly Order of the States of Utrecht were charged.88 The majority of those convicted, however, were of humbler rank: "couriers, apprentices, seamen, coachmen, house servants, house decorators, spice merchants, tanners, coopers, innkeepers, wine merchants, florists, [and] weavers."89

What provoked it?

Today, in many Western nations, it is commonplace for homosexuals to form associations for recreational, political, or religious purposes or to provide social services. But in 1730 in the Netherlands, the discovery of social networks occurred through lurid revelations in an atmosphere of religious hysteria. In this light, these associations seemed a veritable Satanic fifth column threatening the very existence of the state. The "enormity" of the discovery created a mood of panic in the masses and the elite alike. Like the English, the Dutch saw sodomy as a peculiarly Catholic sin from which Protestants were exempt. Both peoples believed their holiness had vouchsafed them a special protection from Spanish power and French aggression. Might not such horrible sins cause God to abrogate the divine covenant that had protected them?
A fact of physical geography also obsessed the Dutch imagination. The threat of annihilation seemed especially plausible since so much of the Low Countries lay below the level of the North Sea. The ancient tradition that sodomy caused Noah's flood helped stoke the fears of 1730. Serious floods had plagued the country as recently as 1728. When a hitherto unknown species of woodworm caused large portions of the dykes to collapse in the winter of 1731, it looked as though the ominous warnings of the Placard had proved all too accurate. Clergymen hastily published sermons with such titles as The Worm a Warning to the Feckless and Sinful Netherlands and The Finger of God: Holland and Zealand in Great Need from this Hitherto Unheard of Plague of Worms.90 Like fifteenth-century Venice, the Netherlands were a successful commercial empire that feared a sudden watery extinction. Hitherto sodomy had been the "unmentionable crime," and trials and executions had often been secret. Now a flood of legal and religious treatises, pamphlets, broadsheets, and doggerel verse poured forth. Anti-Catholic writers reminded readers that Rome was the catamitorum mater, and there were the inevitable references to Julius III, to Archbishop della Casa, and to Sixtus IV, who, it was popularly claimed, had given his cardinals license to commit sodomy during hot weather.
Protestants were supposed to do better. "The reformed Christians or Protestants," one clergyman wrote, "are proud not only because they received a greater revelation than others of the eternal light, but because they have improved the moral standard which was terribly decayed especially in the clergy."91 Leonard Beels's Sodom's Sin and Punishment (1730) reveled in enumerating catastrophes ascribable to divine wrath—the spire of the cathedral in Utrecht had collapsed in 1674, an earthquake had been felt in 1692, the town of Stavoren had disappeared beneath the waves in 1657 in a flood, which, it was claimed, had drowned 100,000.92 In the seventeenth century the Dutch republic had enjoyed its Golden Age as a major European power preeminent in trade, finance, industry, and agricultural production. But after 1713, following the Peace of Utrecht, the Netherlands underwent a steep decline in military and political prestige. The Amsterdam Stock Exchange slumped as commercial rivals like England now surpassed the Dutch, and anxiety grew. In these circumstances sodomites were convenient scapegoats.
In one poem of 1730 a ruined merchant and an unemployed tradesman complained: "You [sodomites] are the source of the decay."93 Edward Coke, in the third part of his Institutes (1644), had proclaimed that "the sodomites came to this abomination by four means—by pride, excess of diet, idleness, and contempt of the poor."94 This adroitly turned Ezekiel's four causes of Sodom's fall (16:49) into four causes of sodomy. So wealth, high living, and a failure to provide charity were perceived as promoting homosexual behavior. The remarkable prosperity that had itself been the sign of divine favor had, theologians argued, all too easily led to sodomy, which was in turn to blame for the country's economic decline.
Dutch artists also commented on the sensational revelations. One striking engraving—Justice Triumphant—combined Baroque allegory with contemporary scenes. Justice with her scales looks down from above as Divine Wrath trails a banner with words from Paul. Below, an old man and a naked woman (Time and Truth) pull aside a curtain to reveal a sodomite club where four well-dressed couples discuss the startling news. In the background fire rains down upon the cities of the plain as—a Dutch touch—the waters of the Dead Sea rise to inundate them. Grimmer and more explicit in its realism is a series of scenes in an engraving entitled Timely Punishment Decreed for the Abominations of the Most Godless and Damnable Sinners. In the first scene two men quit an elegant salon, hand in hand; then they are shown fleeing their homes, leaving wives and children behind. Arrested in the street, they next appear in prison lamenting their fates. The last and most elaborate scene shows a huge crowd in the city square in Amsterdam, where five men dangle from a gallows, two are garroted on posts, and another pair drown in barrels. At the side, bodies of dead men burn on a grill, while in the foreground a skeleton holds a scroll showing ships taking corpses to be thrown into the sea.

These pictures are chillingly close to reality. As we have seen, methods of execution were varied. Here are the fates of five men who suffered in Amsterdam:
• Pieter Marteyn Janes Sohn and Johannes Keep, decorator, strangled and burned, June 24, 1730
• Maurits van Eeden, house servant, and Cornelius Boes, eighteen, Keep's servant, each immersed alive in a barrel of water and drowned, June 24, 1730
• Laurens Hospuijn, chief of detectives in the Navy, strangled and thrown into the water with a 100-pound weight, September 16, 173095 Another thirteen perished in The Hague:
• Jan Backer, middleman for hiring of house servants, and Jan Schut, hanged and burned, June 12, 1730
• Frans Verheyden; Cornelis Wassermaar, milkman; Pieter Styn, embroider of coats; Dirk van Royen, and Herman Mouillont, servant, hanged and afterward thrown into the sea at Scheveningen with 50-pound weights, June 12, 1730
• Pieter van der Hal, grain carrier; Adriaen Kuyleman, glove launderer; David Munstlager, agent; and Willem la Feber, tavern keeper, hanged and thrown into the sea at Scheveningen with 100-pound weights, July 21, 1730
• Antonie Byweegen, fishmonger, hanged, then burned to ashes, July 21, 1730
• Jan van der Lelie, hanged and thrown into the sea, September 24, 1731

Perhaps you're wondering why i even bothered to show you just another day in West Europe? The fanatics had found the masses of annoyed citizenry whom to blame for their woes and thus several hundred designated sinners, witches, heretics, otherwise bad persons were summarily frowned upon with extreme prejudice?

I'll give you five hints:
  • Secret society that is united by the common interests in the face of common enemy — you(state) and yours(people);
  • A branch in every sity, a network in every town, a cell in every village. An agent in every organization, institution, force and business enterprise of at least remotely meaningful scale, thus — importance;
  • The membership features a no small amount of the rich, the powerful, the influental, the responsible for things of import and vital to the national security, stability and prosperity of state, including the bearers of state- and military secrets of all levels;
  • The least vulnerable member of organization represents only slightly more difficult customer for a skilled intelligence operative than your average open prostitute of a lower-middle class or above with a few years of professional experience.
  • The traditional Sharia law equates the gay shenanigans to an act of adultery(zina). The Sharia legists of X century were largely agreeing on that the offense in question should be rewarded with tazir kind of punishments, common in Sharia courts for less serious offenses. Punishments themselves vary with the nature of crime and include a prison term, flogging, a fine, banishment, and seizure of property. The sixteenth-century Egyptian jurist Ibn Nujaym said that tazir could consist of lashing, slapping, rubbing the ears, a stern telling-off, disparagement short of slander, or an angry look from the judge. But you know what's interesting? Execution is allowed in cases such as habitual homosexuality, practices which split the Muslim community(sowing discord), propagating heretical doctrines(propagating hostile ideology) or espionage on behalf of an enemy of the Muslim state.
Just in case you don't know this, in France the buggery was tossed out of the list of criminal offenses by Napoleon(Code Pénal Impérial, 1810). In Russia — by Lenin(Penal Code of RSFSR, 1922). What Lenin and Napoleon have in common? Yeah, that's precisely why while juvenile idiots are busy babbling nonsense on what supposedly is 'morality right', the ones concerned with more... let's say, practical aspect of the matter are perfectly aware of the fact how many members of the Cambridge Five were gay, how many fellow homosexuals Chicherin brought with him to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when he was appointed a Minister, how much percents of total volume of the intelligence information the CRIMINT divisions of the law enforcement is coming from their respective gay community(es), and why the Catholics were hunting homosexuals and burning them at stake while Orthodoxes looked at this and wondered what precisely is wrong with the unwashed barbarians in question.
