It's always political, not too much about performance, though. Also, keep in mind that China is barging in on this market and will probably replace Russia in it, so Dassault will do as Dassault always did: provide non-aligned countries with top of the line stuff with no strings attached.
On the contrary, IMO. Just take a look at Eurofighter compared with Rafale and you'll see the plane designed in committee was longer to design, more expensive and less effective in its roles than the plane with a clear vision from the beginning. The money is coming for the military thanks to Putin and Dassault's CEO said explicitely and multiple times that Dassault has a "Plan B" about the SCAF, so as soon as the political authorities give the green light and confirm the budget, they'll go for it on their own, which will be a lot faster than if we had to discuss with Berlin at every step.
On the SCAF I am optimistic.
Germans may be looking at the F-35 but at the same time, the budget increase will likely extend the funding for the SCAF. as well as that little Leo with Leclerc turret, and whatever else the French are trying to have Germans fund.

Urgh, please let us design the plane ourselves. Pretty much every time we let Berlin have a word in weapon dev', it ends in a nightmarish PoS.
Let them design the engine.
You yourself have admitted that both the Turbo-Union RB199 and the Eurojet EJ200 are superior to SNECMA products of the same vintage.

What. When did I ever said that? These engines are more powerful than M88, but M88 has an edge in ease of maintenance, consumption per thrust and endurance, AKA the focuses of the engine's roadmap.
I don't remember when.
I remember what. On SB someone suggested putting a French engine in a German plane and you responded that it should be the other way around. French plane with a German engine.
Then again it is mostly academic. Those "German" engines were in fact mostly made by Rolls-Royce.
So I am changing my statement, let the Germans, pay for the engine. If there is one thing the Germans are good for is paying for stuff.
Or better yet, have the Germans give you a loan to buy a company. If Peugeot managed to make an Opel that your eyes no longer bleed from looking at it. Then the sky is the limit.

Pigeon is allegedly how Russian pilots call the F-35. I like it, it describes how the plane is supposed to shit on enemies while being fat and annoying.

Mr Biden was answering questions in Tokyo during a press conference with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, when a journalist asked them about the defence of Taiwan.
The US president began by directly linking the China-Taiwan situation to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, saying that Vladimir Putin was attempting to "eliminate the identity of Ukraine".
If there was a rapprochement eventually between Ukraine and Russia, and sanctions were not sustained, "then what does this signal to China about the cost of attempting to take Taiwan by force?"
"They are already flirting with danger right now by flying so close and all the manoeuvres that they are undertaking," he said, referring to increasing reports of Chinese warplane incursions into Taiwan's self-declared air defence zone.
He added that while "my expectation is that it [a Chinese invasion] will not happen, it will not be attempted", at the same time it depended on "how strong the world makes clear that that kind of action is going to result in long term disapprobation".

Hard to say. Used to be that yes, there were grifters galore there. There's a Youtuber, Henry Chan of 9-Holes Review who tells the story of PLA bases near Hong Kong where people can shoot actual AKs for cash and that story was widespread.
Now I have no idea.
