Russian President Vladimir Putin today supported American Kamala Harris' candidacy for the White House, one day after Washington accused Moscow of interfering in the presidential elections of the United States of America.

The Russian head of state indicated that the Republican opponent in the US presidential election, Donald Trump, who was president between 2017 and 2021, imposed "more sanctions on Russia than any other president".
Kamala Harris "maybe doesn't do that kind of thing," she said.
Russia was accused by the United States of trying to influence the 2016 elections in favor of Trump, especially through social media.
On Wednesday, American authorities imposed more sanctions against employees of the Russian intelligence chain RT, arguing that there were attempts by Russia to interfere in the presidential elections that will take place next November.
Russian diplomacy spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today that the measures against RT are part of an "information campaign prepared for a long time".
In an interview with the state news agency Ria Novosti, he assured that Moscow will respond to the new sanctions in a way that "will make the world tremble".
The United States did not specify whether the alleged interference was in favor of the Republican or Democratic candidacy.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland said that in the intelligence analysis, "Russia's preferences have not changed from the last election," suggesting that Russia sought to favor Donald Trump.
Before Biden left the race in favor of his vice president, Putin stated that he preferred a second term for the current President.
