Modern WI: Stalin Not Paranoid?

So Stalin wasn't as nuts as he was in OTL, but still got into power in the way he did.

How does WW2 go if half the officer corps aren't purged?

IIRC and correct me if I'm wrong, but there's actually an argument to be made that the Stalin purges DID prevent some kind of Planned/Possible Revolt? Or no. I'm not to sure on where I heard this.

Essentially correct.

Stalin's actions make perfect sense given his worldview. There's no need to attribute paranoia to him.

In someways that's possible to apply to any dictator. Like any risks to your power need to go or you're dead.

That's true too, but I mean that these guys (not just Stalin, the Communists at this time in general) thought that they were under threat (which they were) and that the best way to get everyone who is a danger is to get everyone who looks like he might be dangerous, even if 90% of them probably aren't.

EDIT: I'ce read Kaganovich's memoirs, and he specifically says this.

How WW2 go if Stalin, did not push for rapid industrialization and the expansion of the Red Army size and capabilities at all costs?

Someone is paranoid if they are not out to get you.

He wasn't paranoid. They really were out to get his lucky charms.

Could have been worse. Could have been Trotsky. Entire planet would have rose up to crush Russia if that perpetual revolutionary fucker had come to power.

For some strange reason Trotsky's demise is always brought up as an evil thing and proof of some culpability of the communism. As in "evil communists killed Trotsky who was running away from them".
It always amuses me.
Unparadoxically, every self called "democrat" knows nothing about communism, socialism, law, policymaking and running state among others. They, as much of every other peers run amok wildly proclaiming dogmas they do not understand.
Funny thing is that is an image of Easterner in Clancy and other such works, which are even nowadays held as some paramounts of how you do research and strategic thinking.
